The work of influential street photographer Ed van der Elsken is on show at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

The exhibition, which runs until 13 September, explores the techniques he used and his pioneering, experimental approach. As well as pictures, the show includes previously unpublished notes, contact prints, darkroom experiments and newly discovered book dummies.

An accompanying book, jointly published by the Rijksmuseum and publisher Nai010, is available in Dutch and English editions.
