The Left Shore at Nationalmuseum centres around a still image film by Renck that is based on Petersen’s black & white documentary photographs, including those from early book projects and his latest, more diary-like images. The soundtrack features newly composed music by Krister Linder.
Another part of the exhibition comprises photographs included in the three books Petersen published in the 1980s and 1990s about people in Swedish care institutions.
The Left Shore will be on display on the upper floor of Nationalmuseum, Stockholm until 11 January 2026, while a selection of Petersen’s books is exhibited in the museum’s Old Library.
