Opening on Saturday (27 June) Daytripping by Alan Dimmick explores moments captured during short trips along the west coast of Britain over the past four decades, in particular Millport and the Isle of Cumbrae.
In an interview with Tracy Calder back in December (B+W issue 309), Dimmick discussed his influences, his love of island life and why he always shoots personal projects in black & white.

Discussing his passion for film, he said: ‘In the beginning, one of the things I found exciting about photography was the fact you could process the film yourself. I still remember that Saturday morning when I processed my first roll of film and looked at the negatives in the kitchen – I couldn’t quite believe I was looking at pictures taken the day before. That sense of joy has stayed with me. Even now, thousands of films later, as soon as I’ve finished a film, I want to process it. I can stay up until 3am editing or processing. The craft and process have always been very important to me.’
Daytripping runs from 27 June to 26 July at the Wyllieum in Greenock, Inverclyde.
