An ambitious show celebrating 200 years of photographic innovation is underway at London’s Atlas Gallery.
Legacy of Light, which runs until 30 May, marks the 200th anniversary of Nicéphore Niépce’s View from the Window at Le Gras, widely recognised as the first permanent photograph. The exhibition traces the medium’s extraordinary journey from its earliest experiments to its continuing relevance today. It includes some of the most famous photographs ever taken, with famous names including Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Eve Arnold, Brassaï, Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Ernst Haas, André Kertész, Dorothea Lange, Don McCullin, Man Ray, Sebastião Salgado, Henry Fox Talbot, and many more.

In B+W 313 Tracy Calder talks to Atlas Gallery’s director and founder Ben Burdett about the joy and responsibility of looking after some of the most important works in photographic history.
