Photographers first

Promising to put photographers first, Irys offers high-resolution uploads to preserve image integrity and allows users to share work and curate by genre, subject matter or location. When posting, photographers can choose to display or hide likes, comments and follower counts.

Instead of algorithmic feeds, Irys features Groups, community spaces organised around shared interests and styles. The company also plans to curate featured galleries and run talent searches with help from established professionals and partner brands, including Leica, a brand Alan collaborates frequently with.

Alan said: ‘We believe photography is not disposable content – it’s an art form, a career for some, a passion for others, and a special way of seeing. Irys exists to deliver on that, with care, not just code.’

Irys is available from the App Store and Google Play, with free and paid-for options.
