CHECKLIST

Before you upload your work make sure all of your images are:

  • JPG format and saved at quality 10 or above, or the maximum quality possible.
  • 300ppi and the largest size file you have (up to a max of 46cm on the longest side)
  • Has your full name at the start of EACH file name: john-smith-UNIQUE-FILENAME.jpg.
  • Converted to black & white (an obvious one, but we do get colour submissions!)
  • RGB (Adobe RGB is best but sRGB is also fine).

If you’re having trouble resizing or reformatting your images, search online where there are lots of resources to help you with your specific software queries.

If for some reason your images aren’t uploading to our site, please double check your images are JPG format, refresh the page and try again. If you’re still having trouble, contact us here.

Prints should be no larger than 12x16in and packaged flat.

Include your name, email address, telephone number and title of section you are submitting to.

If you would like your work returned please enclose a stamped addressed envelope. We recommend posting your work by special delivery. We cannot accept liability for the loss or damage of any unsolicited material.

We are updating our Portfolio pages to reflect the modern contemporary black & white photographer and renaming the series Salon – a showcase for emerging work. Submit a well edited set of 10-15 images.

Spectrum Photographic specialise in high quality photographic printing, as well as archival mounting. They offer a range of museum quality services.

The image limit for this competition is no more than four each month.

Due to the number of submissions we receive each month, we cannot give individual feedback on why your work has not been included in the magazine.

At all times you will retain the full copyright of your images.

All images submitted must be your own work and you must be the sole author and owner of copyright. It’s your responsibility to ensure that your work complies with ownership and copyright requirements.

All images submitted must not be obscene, defamatory or in breach of any applicable UK legislation or regulations.

If we have reason to believe your submission is not your own work or otherwise breaches these terms and conditions, your work will not be considered.

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the relevant model releases and licences where required.
