Black+White Photography showcases the best in monochrome imagery. A platform for emerging talent to be recognised, we welcome creative-minded individuals from all over the world to send us their work. Please read the descriptions for each section to see where your work would fit best and make sure you’ve read the checklist before submitting.

If you’d like to let us know about product releases, exhibitions, events or possible news stories, please click here.

CHECKLIST

Before you upload your work make sure all of your images are:

  • JPG format and saved at quality 10 or above, or the maximum quality possible (depending on which software you use)
  • 300ppi and the largest size file you have (up to a maximum of 46cm on the longest side)
  • RGB (Adobe RGB is best but sRGB is also fine)
  • Has your full name at the start of EACH file name e.g. john-smith-YOUR-UNIQUE-FILENAME.jpg
  • Converted to black & white (an obvious one, but we do get the occasional colour submission!)

If you’re having trouble resizing or reformatting your images search online where there are lots of resources to help you with your specific software queries.

If for some reason your images aren’t uploading to our site, please double check your images are JPG format, refresh the page and try again. If you’re still having trouble, contact us here.

IS YOUR WORK RIGHT FOR BLACK+WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY?

We cover a range of genres including documentary, portraiture, still life, landscape and street – a contemporary aesthetic fits best with the magazine’s ethos.

A few pointers to help your work be considered:

> We look for images demonstrating style, creativity, technical execution, good presentation and originality.

> A tightly edited set shows a photographer’s confidence: picking five strong images is far better than a submission of nine mediocre pictures.

> If submitting a set, make sure there is uniformity in format, tonality, style and composition.

> If sending a single image, make sure it is a powerful, standalone picture.

SECTIONS YOU CAN SUBMIT TO

If we feel your image is suitable for a different section from the one you submitted to, then we will get in contact.
